MORE THAN 90 DAYS OF SKIING ON JAHORINA, SEASON MET EXPECTATIONS

JAHORINA, MARCH 3 /SRNA/ – The Jahorina Olympic Centre has entered its 92nd day of skiing, fulfilling the promise made at the beginning of the season of guaranteed 90 days on the slopes, while some tourists have returned several times, Sonja Danojlić Jovanović, Director of IT, Sales and Marketing at the Centre, told SRNA.

She emphasizes that the season met expectations proving that Jahorina as a destination is recording steady growth and earning the trust of skiers from the region and abroad. "Neither has the beginning of March brought a decline in interest. Skiing is on today as well with no difference whether it is February or March, there are plenty of skiers. We are satisfied, not only as the Olympic Centre but Jahorina as a complete tourist destination," Jovanović stressed. Jovanović says the result of the successful season lies in joint work with hoteliers, ski schools, and ski rental services, with whom numerous promotions and benefits for guests were created. According to her, the results of those activities are now visible on the slopes. Most visitors to Jahorina come from countries in the region - Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, and Slovenia. An increase in tourists from Italy has also been recorded, as well as the return of guests from Turkey. "This year recorded the highest number of tourists from Turkey so far. Many learned to ski here, and some returned even twice during the season," Jovanović pointed out. Jovanović explains that March is traditionally a favourite month among skiers because the days are longer with more sunshine, and slope conditions are excellent, therefore in cooperation with partners, new benefits have been prepared from March 12 to 15 under the campaign "Jahorina 40% Off." On the occasion of March 8 - International Women’s Day, the Olympic Centre traditionally offers free skiing to all women. She adds that between March 8 and 16 a "Ski Student Week" will be organised with discounts and concerts at Vučko Hotel, with the aim of extending the ski season until April 1. Jovanović stressed that throughout the season they listened to the needs of tourists, restaurateurs, the Hoteliers Association, and the tourism organisation, and adjusted prices and offers based on their analyses. "Although there were several days with unfavourable weather conditions, when certain installatuons were temporarily stopped, skiing took place every day, and the safety of skiers and the system was always a priority," Jovanović said, adding that this proved to be the right approach. A special place in the offer of the Jahorina Olympic Centre is taken by the Igrišta Ski Centre outside Vlasenica. Jovanović said that this ski resort is geographically the closest to Serbia, allowing guests from Belgrade and Novi Sad to arrive in about two hours, ski, and return home the same day. Igrišta, Jovanović says, has proven that it has a future and development potential, especially in the area of accommodation capacities. What currently sets it apart, however, is the spirit recognised by numerous visitors, which is why many gladly come for day skiing.
