ILIĆ: SALARY INCREASES MAINTAIN THE CONTINUITY OF IMPROVING LIVING STANDARDS

BANJA LUKA, MARCH 30 /SRNA/ - SNSD representative in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska Mladen Ilić, welcomed the proposal of the Government of Republika Srpska to increase salaries for public sector workers, stating that this move maintains the continuity of improving citizens' living standards.

"We are aware of the importance of this decision and we must be realistic. It is important to set everything on realistic foundations so that there will be no problems in the future. That is why this decision is important, because the budget can sustain it," Ilić said at a special session of the National Assembly on a package of laws concerning salary increases in the public sector. He stated that most of the increases relate to healthcare workers, which is a priority considering living standards and the emigration of medical staff to other countries. "The increase shows that we care about the large number of people working in this sector," Ilić said. He added that it is necessary to maintain continuity in salary increases across all sectors in Republika Srpska, given the difficulty of the work and the responsibility that employees have in various institutions. "We also have increases for the Ministry of Interior, who were previously not included in salary increases. Employees who do not wear uniforms are also an important factor in the functioning of the system," Ilić said.
