TRUMP JR.'S REMARKS ON SERBS CARRY SPECIAL WEIGHT

BELGRADE, APRIL 8 /SRNA/ – It is of particular importance for the Serb people, Republika Srpska, and Serbia that during his visit to Banja Luka, US President's son Donald Trump Jr. said that Americans can learn a great deal by visiting Republika Srpska, stated Vladimir Kokanović, Director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region.

"That carries special weight, because it was said by a political and social authority, as well as by many political and social authorities from Europe," Kokanović said. He stressed that the statement makes sense when considering the rich historical context that the Serb people in this region can be proud of, as well as the various challenges, including painful moments they have faced throughout history. "Both Serbia and Republika Srpska want to nurture bridges of friendship with all countries wherever possible. I believe this is especially important amid a sea of primarily, I would say, security-related instabilities," Kokanović told SRNA. He emphasized that Serbia seeks to maintain a special relationship with its diaspora, which represents the best and largest bridge. "It is perhaps our best ambassador and a promoter of Serbian culture and national interests in the countries where they live," Kokanović said. Taking all of this into account, he added, much can truly be learned by visiting Republika Srpska and Serbia. A US delegation led by Donald Trump Jr. visited Banja Luka yesterday. The son of the US president addressed a panel discussion attended by Republika Srpska officials and a large number of businesspeople.
