DARKO MLADIĆ: GENERAL MLADIĆ’S HEALTH CONDITION WORSE THAN YESTERDAY
BELGRADE, APRIL 22 /SRNA/ – Serbian doctors examined General Ratko Mladić today, whose health condition has deteriorated and is worse than yesterday, the general’s son Darko Mladić told SRNA.
Darko Mladić stated that Serbian doctors’ reports and a submission requesting that the general be released for treatment in Serbia will be delivered tomorrow to the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague. “The doctors examined him; tomorrow we will officially submit their reports and the request. Unfortunately, he is worse today than yesterday,” Darko Mladić said. Serbia’s Minister of Justice Nenad Vujić visited General Mladić on Monday, April 20, stating that he had informed all relevant officials in The Hague that Serbia is requesting his release for medical treatment on humanitarian grounds, and that he would also address the United Nations. General Mladić suffered a stroke on April 10. He had previously suffered several strokes, has serious cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, neurological damage, and kidney problems, due to which he has been hospitalized multiple times and subjected to various medical and therapeutic procedures, including surgeries on his heart and leg. Two days ago, Darko Mladić told SRNA that General Mladić is in the detention hospital and is on his deathbed following the latest stroke on April 10. General Mladić has been in the detention hospital in The Hague for two years, bedridden.
