MLADIĆ’S CONDITION MOST SEVERE TO DATE, HASN'T BEEN GIVEN IV YET

BELGRADE, APRIL 23 /SRNA/ – Serbian General Ratko Mladić is in the most severe condition he has ever been in, according to assessments by Serbian doctors who examined him in the detention unit of the Hague tribunal, his son Darko Mladić said in a statement to SRNA, stressing that the authorities in the Hague have effectively decided to let him die there if he is not released for treatment in Serbia.

"He is still not being given an IV. It remains unclear why. He has difficulty swallowing, cannot eat properly, and they are not administering an IV. This will be noted in the report by our doctors. I cannot disclose details because it is a confidential report", Darko Mladić said, adding that his father's condition is worse than yesterday. He noted that Serbian doctors are currently preparing their reports and that, by the end of the working day at the latest, a submission will be filed with the Hague Mechanism requesting that Mladić be released for treatment in Serbia. "I cannot even imagine that they would not release him now. If they do not, then they have decided to let him die there, and that would have nothing to do with any trial - it would be something else", Darko Mladić said. He stressed that the situation is urgent and critical, and that the key issue now is how long it will take judges to decide on the family's request. According to him, General Mladić has never before been in a condition where he is unable to swallow. He reminded that two years ago Mladić fell into a coma but recovered, while this current condition, according to Serbian doctors, is the most severe so far. Former Chief of the General Staff of the Republika Srpska Army, General Ratko Mladić, has suffered multiple strokes and has serious cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, neurological damage and kidney problems. He has been hospitalized several times and has undergone various medical and therapeutic procedures, including surgeries on his heart and leg. Since 2024, he has been held in the detention hospital in the Hague.
