MILINKOVIĆ: ONGOING CRIMINAL PROCEEDINGS POINT TO CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES OF SMARTMATIC
SARAJEVO, APRIL 23 /SRNA/ - Criminal proceedings against the company Smartmatic from Sarajevo best illustrate the legality of the public procurement procedure in which the Central Election Commission /CEC/ of BiH selected this bidder for the procurement of a system for biometric voter identification and ballot scanning at polling stations, Aleksandar Milinković, board member of the Bijeljina-based company Planet Soft, told SRNA.
Milinković stated that information about ongoing legal cases against the company in Florida is available on the official website of Smartmatic. “There are ongoing legal cases in which they are currently involved. This is a company that is deeply entangled in corruption. You can imagine how many different lawsuits they are both the source and the target of. This shows that allegations of bribery in the public procurement process are not true,” Milinković said. He added that he agrees with the CEC only in its call for competent institutions to investigate the public procurement procedure in selecting the most favorable bidder. The Office for Considering Complaints of BiH has rejected the appeal filed by the Bijeljina-based company Planet Soft against the decision of the CEC of BiH, which selected the offer of Smartmatic for the procurement of equipment for a system of biometric voter identification and ballot paper scanning, even though it was BAM 17 million more expensive than the offer submitted by Planet Soft.
