PETROVIĆ: SERB PRESIDENCY MEMBER’S SUPPORT FOR GLAMOČ RESIDENTS UNQUESTIONABLE

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, APRIL 27 /SRNA/ – The Serb BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović stands with Glamoč residents and will not allow the establishment of a military training ground in this municipality’s territory, as proposed by the Ministry of Defence within the Council of Ministers, said Dušan Petrović, the head of the Office of the Serb Presidency member.

Commenting on the intention of the Ministry of Defense within the Council of Ministers to relocate the military training ground near the village of Pribelja, below Mount Vitorog, where leftover mines, shells, and explosive devices were being destroyed on two dunums of land, to a new area of 102 square kilometers on the plateau between Kupres and Glamoč, Petrović told SRNA that decisions in the field of defense within the Presidency are made by consensus of all members, thus this initiative will not receive the support of the Serb member without the consent of the local population. "The concern of the Glamoč residents is understandable and fully justified, given the consequences caused by the destruction of ammunition at the Odlična Barbara training ground, which were reflected in damage to residential buildings, as well as contamination of soil and water with heavy metals," Petrović emphasized. He pointed out that the task of institutions is to ease, not further complicate, the living conditions of Serb returnees, as well as all other people living in this neglected municipality. Accordingly, Petrović added, the position of the Serb Presidency member on this issue is clear, and support for the local population is unquestionable.
