DARKO MLADIĆ: GENERAL TRANSFERRED TO A CIVILIAN HOSPITAL, SHOWING SYMPTOMS OF A STROKE

BELGRADE, MAY 2 /SRNA/ - General Ratko Mladić was transferred today from the detention hospital to a civilian hospital in The Hague after doctors determined that he was showing symptoms of a stroke, the general’s son Darko Mladić told SRNA.

Darko Mladić said he spoke with his father around 10:00, and that two hours later he was informed that the general had been transferred to a civilian hospital. “They told me that he had symptoms indicating a stroke. That is all they told me, along with a message that they would inform me as soon as they knew more,” said Darko Mladić. He confirmed that he will travel to The Hague on Monday to visit his father. The legal team of Ratko Mladić filed a request on Thursday, April 23, seeking conditional release on humanitarian grounds due to his deteriorating health condition. General Ratko Mladić suffered a stroke on April 10, and his already serious health condition has further worsened, as he is facing severe neurological, cardiovascular, and nephrological problems. General Ratko Mladić has been in the detention hospital in The Hague since 2024, where he is receiving palliative care due to a serious health condition. The Mechanism has repeatedly rejected requests for his temporary release for medical treatment in Serbia.
