DARKO MLADIĆ: GENERAL RETURNED TO DETENTION HOSPITAL, STROKE NOT CONFIRMED

THE HAGUE, MAY 2 /SRNA/ - General Ratko Mladić was returned to the detention hospital after being transferred earlier today to a civilian hospital in The Hague because doctors suspected he may have suffered a stroke, the general's son, Darko Mladić, confirmed to Srna.

Darko Mladić said that doctors did not confirm that the general had suffered a stroke and that he was returned to the detention hospital. "I spoke with him, and he sounded the same as he did this morning when we talked," Darko Mladić told Srna. Earlier today, he told Srna that he had spoken with his father around 10:00 a.m., and that two hours later he was informed that the general had been transferred to a civilian hospital because he had symptoms indicating a possible stroke. He also confirmed that he will travel to The Hague on Monday to visit his father. Ratko Mladić's legal team submitted a request on Thursday, April 23, seeking conditional release on humanitarian grounds due to his increasingly poor health condition. General Ratko Mladić reportedly suffered a stroke on April 10, and his already serious medical condition further deteriorated, as he is suffering from severe neurological, cardiovascular, and nephrological problems. Since 2024, General Mladić has been in the detention hospital in The Hague, where he is under palliative care due to his severe health condition. The Mechanism has repeatedly rejected requests for his temporary release for medical treatment in Serbia.
