OSTOJIĆ: IT WOULD BE EASIER TO GO TO TEHERAN THAN TO SARAJEVO TO PAY RESPECTS
SARAJEVO, MAY 3 /SRNA/ - The Republika Srpska Minister of Labor, War Veterans' and Disabled Persons' Protection, Radan Ostojić, said that today it was easier to go to Tehran than to Sarajevo to pay respects to the killed JNA members in Dobrovoljačka Street, because the Serbs who arrived had to be secured by a large police presence.
Ostojić added that Bosniaks can safely come to Republika Srpska and pay tribute to their own victims, while the idea of coexistence in Sarajevo is an illusion. “If we are talking about some coexistence or living side by side, and we come here in this way, then we all must admit that it is a complete absurdity,” Ostojić emphasized. He added that Serbs came today to light candles in a peaceful and dignified manner, to pray to God for the souls of the killed, and to lay flowers. “What will happen with that afterwards, we will see,” Ostojić said after white roses were laid and candles were lit at the site where, on this day in 1992, JNA members were killed. He added that the perpetrators and those who ordered the crime should be brought to justice and held accountable before the judiciary of BiH. According to him, Serbs do not trust the judiciary of BiH or the Hague Tribunal, as they believe it was created to prosecute only Serbs, and not those who committed crimes against Serbs. "I don't believe that those who have been on trial for five years will ever receive verdicts; given the number of witnesses for both the prosecution and the defense, the process will likely last another ten years," Ostojić said. He stated that BiH is a country where there is no logic, that peace was brought by the Dayton Agreement, and that every attempt at unitarization has only created greater problems.
