CVIJANOVIĆ: SERB PEOPLE PAID HEAVY PRICE FOR FREEDOM AND DEFEAT OF FASCISM

BANJA LUKA, MAY 8 /SRNA/ - The Serb member and Chairperson of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović congratulated the citizens of Republika Srpska and BiH on May 9, Victory Day over Fascism, emphasizing that the freedom-loving Serb people made an immeasurable contribution to the anti-fascist struggle in the former Yugoslavia.

"On Victory Day over Fascism, with pride and deep respect, we remember one of the brightest dates in modern history, when the capitulation of Nazi Germany brought World War II to an end and defeated the ideology of fascism and Nazism that claimed millions of lives," Cvijanović stated. She noted that the freedom-loving Serb people, who were on the right and just side of history at the time, made an immeasurable contribution to the anti-fascist struggle in the territory of the former Yugoslavia, enduring enormous sacrifices in the fight against the evil that threatened all humanity. "Their courage, defiance and determination permanently oblige us to preserve the memory of that heroic era and glorious anti-fascist past and to pass on the values of peace and freedom to future generations, as well as the historical facts that are crucial in the fight against falsifications and attempts to revise history," Cvijanović said.
