SPS CALLS FOR OHR CLOSURE, NO NEED FOR INTERNATIONAL OVERSIGHT IN BiH

BANJA LUKA, MAY 12 /SRNA/ - The Socialist Party of Srpska /SPS/ believes that after Christian Schmidt's departure, it is necessary to launch the process of permanently closing the Office of the High Representative /OHR/, stressing that BiH does not need tutors but responsible domestic political representatives elected by the will of the people.

The SPS emphasized that democratic elections are regularly held in Republika Srpska and BiH, where citizens elect their legitimate representatives who make decisions and pass laws on behalf of the people, a right that should not belong to foreign individuals or international actors. "It is high time for BiH to stop being a protectorate and for domestic institutions to fully assume responsibility for political processes, decision-making and the future of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH", the SPS stated. The party stressed that after more than three decades of active involvement by international actors, it is necessary to establish dialogue among the peoples, which alone can lead to a functional state community of BiH in accordance with the Dayton Agreement. The SPS added that domestic and legitimately elected officials, who received the trust of citizens in democratic elections, should bear full responsibility for governing Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH. "The necessary progress can be achieved exclusively through systematic and constructive internal dialogue among domestic political actors, mutual trust and respect, with consistent adherence to the constitutional order of BiH and the competencies of Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH, as well as the full equality of the three constituent peoples", the SPS stated. The party added that the three constituent peoples in BiH must independently decide on their future, without impositions or foreign interventionism.
