ŠOLAJA CALLS FOR BiH TO OPERATE WITHIN ITS OWN SYSTEM AND CONSTITUTIONAL FRAMEWORK
BANJA LUKA, MAY 12 /SRNA/ - Professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Banja Luka Miloš Šolaja said in a statement to SRNA that BiH will not resolve its key problems until it learns to function in line with its own political system and Constitution.
"The question is always how to implement that. But this will likely be discussed during the process of appointing a new High Representative in BiH", Šolaja said after the UN Security Council session on BiH. He believes that a new High Representative in BiH should work toward completing the mandate of the Office of the High Representative /OHR/ and leave any agreements to representatives of domestic institutions. "The goal from the very beginning of the High Representative's existence is for European countries to transfer the governance of BiH to domestic bodies and institutions. It is obvious that major powers now understand that BiH has no way out until it learns to function on its own, in accordance with its political system and Constitution", Šolaja said. In addition to representatives of Russia and China, who at the UN Security Council session called for the closure of the OHR, the US Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Tammy Bruce, said that the United States believes the next appointed High Representative should work on transferring governing authority to domestically elected political actors and must have both internal and international consensus.
