ĆURIĆ: SRPSKA GOVERNMENT RECOGNIZED IMPORTANCE OF TREBINJE GYMNASIUM PROJECT
TREBINJE, MAY 22 /SRNA/ - Republika Srpska Government will support the construction of a gymnasium building in Trebinje with BAM 4 million, while the City Administration will likely take on credit obligations to secure the remaining funds so the project can be completed as soon as possible, Mayor Mirko Ćurić told SRNA.
Ćurić thanked the Republika Srpska Government for recognizing the importance of the project and said that, according to estimates, around BAM 8 million is still needed to complete the works. "We consider this facility to be of great importance for Trebinje and our young people, who will have the opportunity to study in a more modern space and better conditions," Ćurić said. He added that within the next month at the latest, the final bill of quantities and cost estimates for all necessary works are expected to be completed, noting that there is a possibility that, in addition to the gymnasium, another secondary or higher education institution could be housed in the building. Ćurić said the goal is for the building to be put into operation as soon as possible and become a "temple of science and art" - to the pride of all citizens of Trebinje. Speaking about the Government's support for completing works on a multi-residential building with 15 apartments intended for social housing categories, Ćurić said part of the funds had already been allocated by the City Administration to prevent further deterioration of the building, which was originally planned under an incomplete project. "We signed an annex agreement with the line ministry providing that the City Administration will complete the remaining apartments. Of the total 15 apartments, seven will be intended for refugees and displaced persons, while eight will be available to the city, and we will issue a public call depending on interest for their allocation," Ćurić said. He added that estimates show around BAM 900,000 is needed to complete the works and put the building into use. "We expect to soon issue a public call, select a contractor and complete the necessary works," Ćurić said. The Republika Srpska Government yesterday adopted several information reports on the need to finance projects from public investment funds in 17 local government units in Republika Srpska, for which BAM 61.3 million will be allocated.
