MILIĆEVIĆ: GRAND HOTEL IMPORTANT PART OF MUNICIPALITY'S HISTORICAL HERITAGE
ŠAMAC, MAY 25 /SRNA/ – The mayor of Šamac, Đorđe Milićević, told SRNA that he is pleased the Republika Srpska Government has supported the reconstruction of the Grand Hotel, stressing that putting the facility back into use will be significant for the local community.
Milićević stated that the hotel represents an important part of the town's historical and architectural heritage. "This is a building that is under the protection of the Republic Institute Protecting Cultural and Historical Monuments," Milićević said. He noted that the reconstruction of the old Grand Hotel has been one of the projects the municipality has been advocating for a long time through initiatives and correspondence with relevant institutions. Milićević said that the approved funds from the Republika Srpska Government will enable the renovation and restoration of the building, as well as its use for civil society organisations, youth and other associations, and for hosting activities important to the local community. The Republika Srpska Government has decided to support the reconstruction of the old Grand Hotel in Šamac from the entity budget, with the total estimated value of BAM 1,130,391 including VAT. The Grand Hotel was built in 1912 and represents one of the key buildings in the process of urban and social development of the town in the early 20th century.
