CVIJANOVIĆ: NEW APPROACH OF U.S. ADMINISTRATION - ONLY WAY TOWARDS EQUALITY FOR ALL IN BiH
BANJA LUKA, MAY 28 /SRNA/ - The people of Republika Srpska are grateful to the administration of US President Donald Trump for the new approach, because it is the only way to equality for all in BiH, as well as political and constitutional stability, based on healthy political relations, said Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović.
She emphasized that for Republika Srpska, political dialogue is not a sign of weakness or defeat, but rather proof of political maturity and responsibility. "In this context, Republika Srpska advocates the concept of genuine democracy and sovereignty and the transfer of all relevant processes into the hands of democratically elected domestic institutions. All our diplomatic efforts have been focused on this goal," Cvijanović stressed. According to her, in order for BiH to function and achieve its political, economic and security goals, it is crucial that domestic institutions and political actors take responsibility for all key processes. Cvijanović noted that external tutelage and the usurpation of constitutional powers by external factors have caused enormous damage to BiH and practically destroyed internal dialogue. "I am convinced that the renewed momentum in relations between the United States and both Republika Srpska and BiH - alongside the broader US engagement with this region - represents an opportunity we must seize. It offers not only the chance to further strengthen our political ties and cooperation, but also to develop meaningful responses to the many contemporary challenges that affect us all equally, regardless of whether we are considered `large` or `small` actors," said Cvijanović. When it comes to the diplomatic and economic vision of Republika Srpska, Cvijanović emphasized that Srpska looks forward to a time when diplomacy and economic development will speak the same language - when economic diplomacy becomes the dominant dimension of Srpska's international engagement. "Of course, achieving this requires political stability within the country, which is why we view the renewed US engagement here as a vital contribution toward that goal. Precisely said, Republika Srpska considers the development of economic cooperation with relevant partners at both regional and global levels to be one of its key strategic priorities," Cvijanović added.
