ŠPIRIĆ: PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE HAS BECOME A "SWAMP", WE WILL NOT TAKE PART

SARAJEVO, JUNE 4 /SRNA/ - Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Nikola Špirić told reporters that debates such as today's discussion on the agenda, marked by mutual insults, are turning the House into a "swamp" in which he does not want to participate.

"Such debates cannot move the country forward on its European path. For four hours people have been insulting each other and turning the House of Peoples into a 'swamp' while claiming they want progress on the country's European path," Špirić said. Špirić stressed that he does not want to be part of that swamp, noting that an extensive agenda had been scheduled for today's session. "Although we also have reservations about some items, we wanted to contribute to a working atmosphere. People do not want that, and when they do, they can call us. We requested a break and will make a decision within the Club," Špirić added. The Chairperson of the Serb Club Sredoje Nović requested a break so that, as he said, "heads could cool down" after the debate on the agenda turned into a discussion on equal representation in institutions.
