PAVIĆ: CRASH IN PIC EXPECTED, AMERICA DOES NOT WANT COLONIAL ADMINISTRATION IN BiH

BELGRADE, JUNE 5 /SRNA/ - Political scientist Aleksandar Pavić assessed that the collapse of the Peace Implementation Council /PIC/ was expected, because it is clear that America does not allow the EU to continue with the colonial administration in BiH through the Office of the High Representative /OHR/.

Commenting on the absence of an agreement on a high representative at the two-day session of PIC in Sarajevo, Pavić said that the US intention for the next representative to be the last one and that his task should be to bring the work of the OHR to an end has been clear for a long time. "The Americans annonced it in the UN Security Council through their representative Tammy Bruce, and it was immediately expected that the main European powers would be against it," Pavić told SRNA. According to him, BiH is a protectorate of the Europeans, who treat BiH as their colony and will not give up that position. "They still want a colonial administrator in BiH, they are still prisoners of that quasi-liberal globalist order, and they impose values, solutions and state arrangements to other peoples and states," Pavić explained. On the other hand, he points out, the Americans have clearly said not only about BiH, but also in general, that they have given up on the nation-building project. "BiH is par excellence such a project, so it is totally expected that there was such a divergence between them. Unless some agreement is made behind the scenes as part of some broader trades, I do not see that there will be any rapprochement because there is literally a difference in values," Pavić emphasized. He believes that additional pressure of the Europeans is created by the stay of Christian Schmidt, whom no one will respect, especially Republika Srpska. "He resigned, and Srpska did not recognize him anyway. He had no legitimacy in Republika Srpska. If his legitimacy was zero, now it is even below, because it is clear that he resigned under pressure from the Americans," Pavić said. He assessed that the European powers, for whom this will be a problem, will try to push through some solution just so that the OHR remains their lever of management, that is, of controlling the situation in BiH. "Fundamentally, it can last indefinitely, which is a bigger problem for the EU than for the Americans. As far as the Americans are concerned, if the OHR dies, it is in accordance with their new policy," noted Pavić. He emphasized that the highest officials of Republika Srpska pointed out another problem, which is reflected in the fact that the signatory countries of the Dayton Agreement are not consulted. "Republika Srpska said in advance that it considers that a high representative cannot be appointed without its consent, as well as without the consent of the UN Security Council," recalled Pavić. He believes that Russia and China will certainly insist on this, which is an additional problem for those who want to push out a new high representative. "This leads to the fact that, even if there was a compromise in the PIC, Moscow and Washington would insist that it also pass the UN Security Council. Everything indicates that the election of a new high representative will be difficult and it is not realistic that it will be resolved in the foreseeable future," Pavić said. The political directors of the member countries of the PIC Board of Directors failed to reach a consensus at the two-day session in Sarajevo when it comes to the candidate for the high representative, even though it is not within their jurisdiction, and they postponed the decision until the end of the month.
