ĆORIĆ: STRONG INTEREST IN NEW HOUSING LOAN MODEL

BANJA LUKA, JUNE 6 /SRNA/ – Acting Director of the Investment-Development Bank /IDB/ of Republika Srpska, Nedeljko Ćorić, stated that citizens have already shown significant interest in the new housing loan model, which is being offered directly through the IDB, noting that, within the first three days, several hundred people visited the institution seeking information about the lending conditions.

Ćorić said in his SRNA podcast that the new model represents a major step forward in the work of the IDB, which is for the first time directly providing housing loans to citizens. "This is a new opportunity for Republika Srpska citizens to obtain housing loans under the most favourable conditions on the market, with the longest repayment periods," Ćorić said. He explained that the loans are intended for the purchase of a first residential property and cannot be used to refinance previously obtained loans. Ćorić noted that the age limit for young married couples has been raised from 30 to 35 years, bringing the conditions into line with the policies of the Republika Srpska Government, which supports this category through subsidized interest rates. Ćorić added that older married couples have not been excluded from the programme, although different lending conditions apply to them. According to Ćorić, the maximum housing loan amount has been increased from BAM 170,000 to BAM 200,000, while the limit for home extensions and renovations has been raised from BAM 75,000 to BAM 100,000. He said that BAM 60 million has been allocated annually for this purpose. Ćorić announced that, following the introduction of direct housing loans, the institution will develop new models of financial support for businesses, entrepreneurship, and agriculture, with the aim of providing more favourable sources of financing.
