STEVANDIĆ: SERB PEOPLE, THROUGH ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE HOLY BELT, HAS SENT POSITIVE EXAMPLE TO THE WORLD

BELGRADE, JUNE 6 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandić has stated today in Belgrade that the Serb people, through the attitude toward the Holy Belt of the Most Holy Mother of God, has shown the world what a return to fundamental values means.

“We have shown what it means to return to the original roots of civilization, Christianity, well-being, and a positive attitude toward people and nations,” Stevandić told media from Republika Srpska after the divine liturgy served in Saint Sava Cathedral Church in Belgrade district of Vračar, on the occasion of the farewell of the Holy Belt of the Most Holy Mother of God, which is being returned to the Vatopedi Monastery on Mount Athos. He stressed that the entire world had witnessed the event and that its full significance and importance could not yet be assessed. “It is not only about grace, but something that spreads from this place, Saint Sava Cathedral Church, to all humanity, to all believers, showing what true faith is, humility before higher values, and how we as a people preserve and demonstrate it as a shining example to others,” Stevandić said. Stevandić emphasized that it is a special honour that Republika Srpska and Serbia marked this event together, both their leaderships and their people, which, he said, sends a positive example to the world. The holy relic, which has been in Saint Sava Cathedral Church since Ascension Day, has gathered more than 800,000 people.
