PALE, JUNE 6 /SRNA/ – World and European boxing champion Sara Ćirković today opened the international ju-jitsu tournament "Jahorina Open Trophy" in Pale, which brought together 600 competitors from six countries.

Ćirković told the press she was pleased to be part of a sporting event that has contributed to the development of the sport for many years. “I am particularly happy to see so many young people and children involved in sports, because it is the best path toward healthy development and the achievement of future sporting success,” she said. President of the Ju-Jitsu Club Jahorina, Dejan Jerkić, expressed satisfaction with the organisation of the competition, which attracted 600 athletes from six countries. “When we organised the tournament in 2018, we had around 180 competitors. The number of participants has grown year after year, and today we are proud that the tournament has become one of the region’s significant sporting gatherings,” Jerkić said. He thanked all clubs, coaches, athletes, and supporters of sport who have contributed to the development of the event. Head coach of the Ju-Jitsu Federation of Serbia, Aleksandar Tomić, said that Serbian competitors traditionally attend the tournament and that the organisers continue to raise its standards each year. “I would also like to commend the Municipality of Pale, which continuously supports the development of sports and sporting events,” Tomić said. Representative of Pale Municipality, Vlado Milojević, said the local community was pleased to host such a large number of competitors and would continue supporting this and similar events in the future.
