ŠIPOVO, JUNE 7 /SRNA/ – His Grace Bishop Sergije of Bihać-Petrovac today served the Divine Hierarchical Liturgy at Glogovac Monastery near Šipovo, where the traditional spiritual and cultural event Janjski Sabor was also held, attracting a large number of worshipers.

Bishop Sergije told SRNA that the assembly at Glogovac demonstrates that people have not forgotten their home hearts and faith, as attendees came from various regions, especially those whose roots are in this area. “We are not giving up. We pray to God and will continue striving to ensure that this monastery remains alive and active, as it has been until now,” Bishop Sergije said. During the service, Bishop Sergije elevated Abbot Jerotej Vlajković, the head of Glogovac Monastery, to the rank of archimandrite and wished him strength to persevere and serve his people as befits his calling. This year, too, around 250 pilgrims set out on foot from the Church of Saint John the Baptist in Šipovo to Glogovac Monastery in order to attend the Divine Liturgy and the assembly. Glogovac Monastery is a medieval monastery of the Serbian Orthodox Church. It is a men's monastery belonging to the Bihać-Petrovac Diocese and is located in the village of Babići. The monastery church is dedicated to Saint George. The “Janjski Sabor” gathering at the monastery is traditionally held on the first Sunday after Pentecost.
