GROWTH OF BAM 140.000 IN PATIENT SERVICES IN THE FIRST 100 DAYS

TREBINJE, JUNE 19 /SRNA/ – Trebinje St. Archdeacon Stefan - June 9 Hospital generated approximately BAM 140,000 in revenue from commercial services during its first 100 days of operation, while providing 111,739 medical services during that period, Hospital Director Nedeljko Lambeta has stated today.

"We also recorded 17 percent more outpatient services compared to the same period last year," Lambeta told reporters while presenting the hospital's first 100-day results in its new facility. He noted that 5,339 hospitalizations were recorded during the period, representing a 14 percent increase compared with the same period a year earlier. Lambeta added that 880 surgical procedures were performed, while 1,903 patients were treated through the Emergency Unit, demonstrating how much this type of service had been needed in Herzegovina. "In the coronary care unit, 144 procedures were performed, meaning 144 lives were saved and 144 fewer patients had to be transferred to Foča, Bijeljina, or Banja Luka," Lambeta said, thanking the management of the University Clinical Center of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka, as well as physicians from Belgrade who travel to Trebinje to perform these procedures. He stated that the hospital also provided 7,638 diagnostic services, most of them MRI and CT examinations, noting that it is the only hospital where MRI scans are performed during a third shift. Lambeta said seven medical specialization programs have already been announced this year, with another 16 planned, and invited interested physicians to apply. He stressed that the hospital has sufficient staffing levels despite having more than 60 doctors currently undergoing specialization training. According to Lambeta, efforts will be made in the coming period to improve the hospital's call center service, which has experienced certain shortcomings and operational difficulties. He added that waiting lists of around one month remain on some departments, but measures will be taken to reduce them. "All these results demonstrate just how necessary this facility was for Herzegovina, particularly the angiography suite, as there is no longer a need to call in helicopters for emergency interventions at larger medical centers," Lambeta said. Hospital physician Tanja Novarlić noted that both the volume and complexity of services provided at the hospital are increasing, including the performance of highly demanding surgical procedures. She highlighted the importance of opening new departments such as the angiography suite and Emergency Unit, where initial patient triage is conducted. Combined with modern equipment and continuous staff training, these additions contribute to better treatment outcomes and a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
