ŽUPLJANIN: UNITY IS WAY TO RESPOND TO ATTACKS ON SRPSKA
BANJA LUKA, JULY 6 /SRNA/ - All political and social actors should support the veto of the Serb member of the Presidency Željka Cvijanović on the unconstitutional decision regarding the appointment of members of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of BiH, because this represents an attack on Republika Srpska, said Slobodan Župljanin, President of the Organization of Senior Officers of the Republika Srpska Army.
"Through this decision and this commission, an attempt is being made to take away from Serbs and Republika Srpska everything that bears the label `Serbian,` including Serbian culture, national interests, tradition, and everything else," Župljanin told reporters in Banja Luka. He warned that the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Denis Bećirović has tried and continues to try, in a sneaky way, to ensure that someone from Kenya, Zambia, or Zimbabwe decides what constitutes Serbian national and cultural heritage. "We must all oppose this," Župljanin said. He said it is high time for everyone to understand that narrow, individual party political interests must be subordinated to the interests of Republika Srpska and the Serb people. "I am sure that the National Assembly of Srpska will make such a decision and annul everything that Bećirović thought he could forcibly take away from us, everything that belongs to us," Župljanin said. The Collegium of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska is expected to determine today the draft agenda and schedule for the 40th special session, at which lawmakers are expected to vote on the veto of the Serb member of the Presidency Željka Cvijanović regarding the decision of Presidency Chairman Denis Bećirović on the appointment of members of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of BiH. Cvijanović put a veto on the decision on the appointment of members of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments of BiH, declaring it destructive to the vital national interest of Republika Srpska after it was adopted at a Presidency session without quorum.
