GRATITUDE FOR THE RESPECT SHOWN TOWARDS SERBIAN VICTIMS AND THE MESSAGE OF PEACE IN BRATUNAC

BELGRADE, JULY 7 /SRNA/ - President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić thanked the spiritual advisor to the US President, Pastor Mark Burns, for paying tribute to the innocent Serbian victims during his visit to Bratunac and for sending a message of peace, respect for all victims, and the need to preserve the truth and memory for the sake of future generations.

Vučić emphasized that during today's meeting with Burns in Belgrade, he exchanged views on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, with a special focus on the position of the Serbian people, the protection of Serbian holy sites, and the preservation of the rich spiritual and cultural heritage. "I pointed out that it is of crucial importance to respect the religious freedoms and rights of all people, as well as to ensure peace and security for our people," Vučić stated on Instagram. He added that the meeting also addressed the values that connect the two nations: faith, family, freedom, and mutual respect. "I am convinced that precisely on these foundations we can further develop our cooperation and build stronger ties between Serbia and the USA," the Serbian President highlighted. The meeting also included discussions on further strengthening relations between Serbia and the USA, preserving peace and stability in the region, and the importance of understanding and dialogue. Over the previous two days, Pastor Burns, together with Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, visited Serbian monasteries in Kosovo and Metohija: the Patriarchate of Peć, Visoki Dečani, and Gračanica. Previously, in Bratunac, he attended a memorial service for the 3,267 Serbs in the middle Podrinje and Birač regions who were killed by members of Muslim units between 1992 and 1995.
