GRAORAC: IT IS IMPORTANT FOR TRUTH ABOUT SERBIAN VICTIMS TO BE SHARED AROUND THE WORLD
BANJA LUKA, JULY 11 /SRNA/ - The launch of the global campaign about Serbian suffering in past wars is extremely important because the truth about Serbian victims will be shared around the world, said Isidora Graorac, President of the Republika Srpska Organization of Families of Captured and Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians.
"It is a great pity that we did not have such an opportunity 30 years ago, because we certainly would not have experienced what we have gone through in the recent past, from the fact that our victims are not recognized and that no one speaks about them anywhere, to the adoption of the notorious Srebrenica resolution," Graorac said. She assessed that the Memorial Center of Republika Srpska has done a great thing by launching this global campaign in the center of New York, and that from today onward everything that happened during the past war will be viewed differently. "Today, we have the opportunity to show the whole world that many Serbs suffered in the territory of BiH and throughout the former Yugoslavia, that they suffered simply because they were Serbs, that they did not bother anyone, that they were not a conquering people, and that they did not commit all those crimes we have been hearing about in the previous period — crimes for which many honorable fighters faced proceedings before the Hague Tribunal and the Court of BiH," Graorac said. She expressed her belief that this represents a new chapter in writing the history of the suffering of the Serbian people and that the truth about Serbian victims will spread beyond New York. "Everyone will see that not only Muslims suffered in Srebrenica, but that a large number of Serb soldiers and civilians also suffered throughout the entire Podrinje region and BiH," Graorac said in a statement distributed to the media by the Memorial Center. The Memorial Center of Republika Srpska has launched the global campaign "Learn About Serbian Suffering" in the center of New York, presenting for the first time in history in the United States the story of the suffering of the Serbian people, from the Second World War to the NATO bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
