SERB CAMP SURVIVORS CONTINUE TESTIFYING ABOUT TORTURE AT THE RABIĆ CAMP
DERVENTA, JULY 21 /SRNA/ - Serb former camp detainees who survived torture at the notorious Rabić camp in Derventa in 1992 will continue giving their testimonies today before American investigator-prosecutors.
Yesterday, Doctor Željko Stajčić and Drago Knežević testified before the American investigators at the Court of General Jurisdiction in Derventa. A total of eight Serb former camp detainees are scheduled to give their statements over four days, concluding on Thursday. Knežević told SRNA yesterday that the American investigator-prosecutors are primarily interested in brothers Muris and Haris Skelić, who are suspected of war crimes against Serbs in Derventa in 1992, particularly because they obtained work permits and visas to reside in the United States based on false statements that they had not participated in the war. Knežević said that he spoke about the events at the Rabić camp and the perpetrators of war crimes against Serbs, and that he handed the investigators an expert report on war crimes and crimes of genocide against the civilian population in the Derventa area, published in 2003. During the Defensive-Patriotic War, before the Army of Republika Srpska had even been formed, Croatian and Muslim forces attacked the local Serb population in Derventa. Camps for Serbs were established, the most notorious of which were those at the Army Hall and the Rabić site. A total of 120 Serbs were detained at the Rabić camp, and several hundred Serb civilians passed through the camps in the Derventa area overall.
