BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 27 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić has said today in Banja Luka that the Serb people has always been on the right side of history and has always fought for freedom without any claims against others.

BANJA LUKA, AUGUST 27 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić has said today in Banja Luka that the Serb people has always been on the right side of history and has always fought for freedom without any claims against others.

"That is what we should teach children through the culture of remembrance and events such as Kočić's Assembly, which should be woven into our history and has a broader dimension than literature," Minić told the press in Banja Luka after laying a wreath at the monument to Petar Kočić. He added that the Serb people has had great figures throughout the history, such as Petar Kočić, whose works many people are only now beginning to understand properly. Minić said that Kočić had a strong spirit and idea of freedom, which he translated into literary works, leaving them as a legacy to future generations, who can read in them about the way the Serb people fought against tyranny for their national status. Republika Srpska Minister of Education and Culture Borivoje Golubović said that this year's 61st Kočić's Assembly, an event dating back to 1965, has been enriched with additional cultural content. "When we speak about the culture of remembrance, it is very important for us to preserve what the great Petar Kočić left to us as a legacy, as well as our obligation to pass it on to future generations," Golubović said. Minić, Golubović and the Secretary-General to the President of Republika Srpska, Marko Romić, laid a wreath on behalf of the Republika Srpska institutions at the monument to Petar Kočić in the Banja Luka park named after the great Serb writer, poet and tribune of the plebs. Wreaths were also laid by representatives of the Consulate General of Serbia in Banja Luka, the Association of Writers of Republika Srpska and representatives of cultural institutions. The official opening of the 61st Kočić's Assembly will be held tonight at 8:00 p.m. at the National and University Library of Republika Srpska, while the central event will take place on Sunday, August 30, at the assembly grounds in Stričići.
