CVIJANOVIĆ: SIGNIFICANT FUNDS ALLOCATED FOR GEORGI STOJKOV RAKOVSKI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 1 /SRNA/ - Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović said today that the President’s Office and the Republika Srpska Government had allocated BAM 1.6 million for energy efficiency measures at the Georgi Stojkov Rakovski Elementary School in Banja Luka, as well as more than BAM 100,000 for the renovation of the school’s sanitary facilities.

"The Government has provided BAM 305,000 for an extended-stay facility at this school. Work is now underway on the necessary documentation to provide space for the extended-stay program," Cvijanović told reporters after visiting the elementary school on the occasion of the start of the school year. She congratulated the students, teachers and education workers on the start of the new school year. "The start of the school year is always an important occasion, and it is a holiday for Republika Srpska. Special congratulations to the first-graders, who will be embarking on a new experience, as will their parents. We are grateful to education workers for their dedicated work over the years, which is invaluable," Cvijanović said. Ivana Ljubojević, principal of the Georgi Stojkov Rakovski Elementary School, said that 1,100 students attend the school and that 105 first-graders had enrolled this year. "Our school is one of the largest in Republika Srpska. We are ready to work and happy about the start of the new school year," Ljubojević said. Students of the elementary school performed an artistic program to mark the start of the school year. The school year began today in Republika Srpska. According to currently available data from the Ministry of Education and Culture, there are 80,370 students in elementary schools and 33,886 students in secondary schools.
