MITROVIĆ: WILL THEY PROSECUTE SHOIGU OVER GENERAL MLADIĆ?

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 3 /SRNA/ - The absurdity of the criminal legislation imposed by Valentin Inzko, as well as by all the other high representatives in BiH, has become clear in recent days to anyone who has even superficially analyzed criminal legislation in BiH, law professor Ljubinko Mitrović told SRNA.

Mitrović said that this specifically concerns the criminal offence of inciting national, racial and religious hatred, discord and intolerance under the Criminal Code of BiH, for which more than 75,500 criminal complaints have been filed through the application. "The absurdity lies in the following: how can all those who commit this offence be prosecuted, that is, those who in any way glorify individuals, specifically General Ratko Mladić, which is precisely what a large number of politicians from Sarajevo are calling for?" Mitrović said. He said that this is precisely where the problem arises, as it involves thousands of fans of Italian club Lazio, Red Star Belgrade, Slavia... "How, and whether at all, should former Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu or former Greek Defence Minister Panos Kammenos be prosecuted for glorifying General Mladić, given that they expressed their condolences to his family and the Serbian people as a whole...? Should Mrs. N.N., who, despite being a member of the Croat people, said that she would attend General Mladić's funeral because of his role in saving Croats from the area of central Bosnia during the previous war, also be prosecuted?" Mitrović asked. In the end, Mitrović added, how could the entire Republika Srpska Veterans Organization and all members of the Army of Republika Srpska who are preparing to attend their general's funeral, wherever it may be held, be prosecuted or brought before a court? Mitrović reminded that Inzko further complicated the matter when, in July 2021, he added two paragraphs to the law stipulating that anyone who names public institutions or streets after, awards honours to, or in any other way glorifies a person convicted by a final judgment of genocide, crimes against humanity or war crimes shall be sentenced to at least three years in prison. He reminded that in April 2010, Bosniaks held a funeral for General Rasim Delić, the former commander of the so-called Army of BiH, with full military honours. The ICTY had previously convicted him at trial for crimes committed by members of the "El Mujahideen" detachment against captured Serb soldiers in the summer of 1995. Delić died before the appeals process was completed.
