QIAN: CHINA-PACIFIC ISLAND STATES COOPERATION CONTINUES TO ADVANCE

BEIJING, SEPTEMBER 5 /SRNA/ — Qian Bo, the Chinese Government's special envoy for Pacific island countries, said in Koror that the building of a community with a joint future between China and Pacific island countries continues to make new progress.

Speaking at the 55th Meeting of Leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum Members and Dialogue Partners, Qian said China highly appreciated the fact that the vast majority of members firmly adhered to the one-China principle, the China Media Group reported. He said China and the island countries firmly supported each other's core interests, promoted greater alignment of development strategies, focused on the countries' practical needs and work to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership for the greater benefit of their peoples. Qian said China supported forward-looking initiatives and measures, including the island countries' energy transition, the development of a blue partnership and expanded trade and investment cooperation, all of which have attracted attention and received a positive response from all sides.
