SAVO MINIĆ AND ZORA VIDOVIĆ AWARDED THE UNIVERSITY’S ORDER
ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 14 /SRNA/ – Republika Srpska Prime Minister Savo Minić and Minister of Finance Zora Vidović were awarded the Order of the University of Istočno Sarajevo today for their immeasurable contribution to its development.
The University Charter was awarded to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH Igor Kalabukhov for his contribution to establishing contacts with universities in Russia. The University Charter was also awarded to former Dean of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology Vladislav Topalović, while plaques were presented to professors Dimitrije Ćeranić of the Faculty of Law, Siniša Ristić of the Faculty of Medicine, and Igor Tešević, who served one term as Secretary General of the University of Istočno Sarajevo. Ahead of the academic ceremony marking University Day, Rector of the University of Istočno Sarajevo Milan Kulić told the press that this year 626 students graduated from first-cycle studies, 179 from second-cycle studies, and 13 from third-cycle studies. He stressed that those who established the university, as well as Republika Srpska, must never be forgotten, because without Srpska, the University of Istočno Sarajevo probably would not exist either. Speaking about the university’s development, Kulić said that intensive work is underway on accrediting new study programmes, as well as on international cooperation. “About 300 of our teaching staff, associates and students participated in international exchanges with universities from nearly 16 countries across Europe and the world,” Kulić said, adding that around 20 international projects funded by various funds are currently being implemented at the university. He stated that the total budget of these projects is approximately BAM 49 million, of which the University of Istočno Sarajevo is expected to receive approximately BAM 5.5 million.
