HISTORIC TIME FOR SRPSKA IN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

BUDAPEST, SEPTEMBER 25 /SRNA/ – BiH Ambassador to Hungary Biljana Gutić-Bjelica told SRNA that recent Serb BiH Presidency member, Željka Cvijanović's visit to the United States of America is of great importance for Republika Srpska and is the result of Srpska institutions' long and painstaking work.

It is about, she says, a historic visit, which was neither the first of its kind nor would it be the last visit of such quality, standing, and significance for Republika Srpska. "In recent years, Cvijanović, as well as other Republika Srpska officials, have held highly significant meetings in New York, at the UN, as well as with representatives of US President Donald Trump's administration," Gutić-Bjelica noted. She stressed that this was the result of long and painstaking work by the offices of the Serb BiH Presidency member and the Republika Srpska president, as well as the vision of President Milorad Dodik and his associates, and more recently the Republika Srpska International Cooperation Office. "The aim of these efforts was to present Republika Srpska, its positions, history, and even its future to the world," Gutić-Bjelica said, adding that after establishing excellent cooperation with Russia, China, and Hungary, it was now time to develop relations with the Trump administration. She pointed out that the efforts and desire of the Trump administration to understand the region, the Serb issue and positions, the truth Republika Srpska is presenting, which it had been prevented from for 30 years. "This is a historic time for Republika Srpska, for its leaders and its people. I believe this is an opportunity that we must use wisely, not only to correct false perceptions about Republika Srpska, the Serb people, and the civil war, but also because of our present and, above all, our future," Gutić-Bjelica said.
