PENG LIYUAN CALLS ON INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY TO DEVELOP DIGITAL EDUCATION FOR WOMEN
BEIJING, OCTOBER 10 /SRNA/ – Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping and UNESCO Special Envoy for the Advancement of Girls’ and Women’s Education, has called on the international community to vigorously promote digital education and artificial intelligence education for women, ensuring that they can use and benefit from digital and intelligent technologies.
Noting that girls’ and women’s education remains a challenging task, Peng addressed the 2026 UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education award ceremony in Paris via video link. She called on the international community to join forces in improving vocational education and training for women and enabling them to build a path towards successful lives. Peng extended her warm congratulations to this year’s award recipients from Morocco and Peru, the China Media Group reported. She emphasized that girls’ and women’s education is one of the key indicators of progress in human civilization, adding that encouraging progress had been made in this important field in recent years, thanks to UNESCO’s strong commitment and the joint efforts of the international community. Noting that China has always attached great importance to girls’ and women’s education, Peng said that the country was committed to providing women with better-quality education and opportunities for fulfilling lives. "At the same time, we are actively pursuing practical cooperation on a broad scale with UNESCO and relevant partners, implementing a series of programmes that benefit women around the world," Peng added. She said that China’s efforts in recent years to improve the quality of education through the application of artificial intelligence had not only promoted gender equality in education and the comprehensive development of women, but had also provided valuable experience for other countries in the Global South. Peng emphasized that advancing girls’ and women’s education “sows hope, inspires dreams, and creates opportunities for abundant happiness”. "As the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education enters a new decade, I am ready to work with all of you to further advance girls’ and women’s education and contribute to a brighter future in which even more women can thrive and shine," Peng added. Since China established the award in cooperation with UNESCO in 2015, it has continued to make a positive impact and attract considerable attention and recognition from the international community, the China Media Group stated.
