THREE KILLED, 12 INJURED IN EUFOR HELICOPTER CRASH

BRČKO, OCTOBER 29 /SRNA/ – Three people were killed and 12 injured when a EUFOR helicopter crashed in the Gorice neighbourhood of Brčko, said Salih Ibrahimbegović, spokesperson for the Brčko Health Centre.

"One of the injured is in critical condition and is currently in the operating theatre," Ibrahimbegović told the press. He added that ambulances were ready to transport the injured to Tuzla, as air transport was not possible. A helicopter had been unable to take off from Sarajevo due to poor weather conditions. Eyewitnesses said they had seen the helicopter flying slowly and that it appeared to be experiencing some kind of problem. They also said they saw some crew members jumping out of the aircraft before it crashed. EUFOR stated that a helicopter belonging to the military mission had crashed in the Brčko area today during a routine operation and that no civilians had been injured. The statement added that no civilian infrastructure, property or vehicles had been damaged in the accident.
