LUKIĆ: CHICKEN MEAT EXPORT TO THE EU TO RESUME SOON

BANJA LUKA, MARCH 17 /SRNA/ - The Republika Srpska Assistant Minister for Veterinary Affairs Negoslav Lukić said that the export of chicken meat to the EU would soon be reapproved after it was banned following the outbreak of bird flu in Rogatica.

"This morning, we received notification from Brussels that the measures taken by the Republika Srpska Veterinary Service after the bird flu outbreak in Rogatica have been accepted," Lukić told reporters in Banja Luka. He reminded that 40 days ago, the highly pathogenic strain of bird flu – H5N1 – was confirmed. "We reacted immediately, and conducted sampling on all farms in the areas of Rogatica, Sokolac, and Pale, and all results returned negative. We sent a report to Brussels, from where we received praise for the measures taken," Lukić said.
