SARAJEVO HID BLOODY TRACES, NO ONE HAS BEEN HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR CRIMES

BANJA LUKA, MAY 3 /SRNA/ - Sarajevo hid the bloody traces of murders and expulsions of Serbs who used to live in that city, no one has been held responsible for that and Sarajevo is silent about it, Isidora Graorac, the head of the Republika Srpska Organisation of Families of Captured, Killed Soldiers and Missing Civilians, told SRNA.

"There is no plaque, sign, notice about the suffering of Serbs. What kind of coexistence and future we are talking about," asked Graorčeva. She considers it unacceptable that no one has yet been held accountable for the crimes against Serbs, JNA members in Sarajevo's Dobrovoljačka Street. "How many times should we say this sentence so that those who decide on it deal with it and at least partially contribute to reconciliation and faith in a better tomorrow for everyone in BiH," Graorac said on the occasion of commemorating the 33rd anniversary of the suffering of JNA members in Dobrovoljačka Street. Graorac pointed to the fact that today nobody pays attention to the crimes against Serbs, the families of the killed have to go to Sarajevo under a strong police escort to light candles and lay flowers that will end up in a container as soon as they turn around. "We are not equal, our victims are not treated equally, our places of suffering are not marked equally, their criminals are not prosecuted. This is destroying BiH," said Graorac. She stressed that Serbs cannot be satisfied in such BiH, which is why they must protect Republika Srpska, which more than 35,000 soldiers and civilians gave their lives for. "They are our dam that we cannot cross. And all these sufferings, killings, violent deaths remind us to be vigilant, not to allow anyone to humiliate and kill us again," concluded Graorčeva. East Sarajevo and Sarajevo is marking today 33 years since the crime against JNA soldiers in Dobrovoljačka Street. According to the data of the Republic Research Centrev on War, War Crimes and Tracing Missing Persons, at least 28 JNA members were killed in Sarajevo on May 2 and 3. In 2005, the Public Security Centre /PSC/ East Sarajevo filed criminal charges against 15 persons suspected of this crime, but the Prosecutor's Office of BiH failed to initiate an investigation until November 2007. In January 2012, the international prosecutor in BiH, Jude Romano, made a decision to suspend the investigation. On November 20, 2018, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an order to reopen the investigation in the Dobrovoljačka Case, and in May 2022, the Court of BiH confirmed the indictment against 10 persons charged with war crimes. Among the accused are Ejup Ganić, as a member of the Presidency of the RBiH, Zaim Backović, as a member of the operational centre of the Territorial Defence Headquarters of the RBiH, and Jusuf Pušina, as an assistant to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the RBiH and chief of staff of the Ministry of Interior of the RBiH. This procedure is still ongoing.
