KOŠARAC: LAW ON REGULATOR RECEIVES POSITIVE OPINION, ITS ADOPTION IS PRIORITY

EAST SARAJEVO, JULY 19 /SRNA/ - The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, Staša Košarac, confirmed that the Energy Community gave a positive opinion on the Draft Law on the Regulator, Transmission, and Electricity Market in BiH, which has been submitted to the Council of Ministers for adoption.
“I expect the draft law to be on the agenda of the Council of Ministers as early as Tuesday, July 22, and to receive full support. This is also stated in the letter of support from the Energy Community, which sees its adoption by both the Council of Ministers and the Parliamentary Assembly as a top priority,” Košarac emphasized. He pointed out that the adoption of this law would send a positive and important signal from the BiH-level institutions to the business community in both Srpska and the Federation of BiH. "This would fulfill one of the conditions for exempting BiH from the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism /CBAM/ on electricity exports," Košarac said. He pointed out that by issuing a positive opinion, the Energy Community recognized the joint efforts and the need to harmonize the text of this extremely important law in full coordination and cooperation with the Energy Ministries of Srpska and the FBiH. "This is the result of the joint efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, and the Energy Ministries of Srpska and the FBiH, with the support of the Energy Community," Košarac emphasized. He expressed gratitude to the energy ministers of Srpska and the Federation of BiH, the representatives of the Energy Community, as well as all associates who actively and productively contributed to drafting this law. "We have made significant progress, considering the many years of attempts to harmonize the text of the law, which have been ongoing since 2012. It is important to emphasize that throughout the entire process, we preserved the energy sovereignty of both Srpska and the FBiH," Košarac wrote on Instagram.
