REFERENDUM - RESPONSE OF SRPSKA TO POLITICAL COURT DECISIONS

EAST SARAJEVO, AUGUST 18 /SRNA/ – Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Nikola Špirić believes that Republika Srpska has a democratic response to brutal political court decisions, since a referendum represents the highest level of democracy.

"The constant and brutal imposition of decisions has become the model of political life in BiH, one that is always directed against Republika Srpska and its inhabitants. In response to our attempts to achieve a minimum compromise and preserve constitutional functioning within BiH, political Sarajevo offers only calls for international interventionism that is tearing apart the fabric of BiH," Špirić assessed for SRNA. He added that there is no segment of society untouched by unconstitutional decisions crafted in the notorious Office of the High Representative – ranging from culture to fiscal policy and constitutional matters. "The leadership of Republika Srpska has clearly stood in defense of institutions against such assaults, but this level of legal violence requires response from the people who live here," Špirić stressed. He asked how joint institutions could function if, for every decision harmonized with the constitutions of Republika Srpska and BiH, announcements appeared on the websites of foreign organizations, followed by court rulings. "It seems that those who swear by BiH are doing everything to strip it of all attributes of statehood. Their hatred toward Republika Srpska is also destroying that declarative concern for BiH," Špirić concluded.
