RAJILIĆ: EVEN THE SEARCH FOR THE MISSING SHOWS THAT BiH IS AN IMPOSSIBLE STATE

PETROVO, AUGUST 30 /SRNA/ - The president of the Republika Srpska Association of Women War Victims, Božica Rajilić, stated that BiH is an impossible state, noting that this is evidenced by the fact that 30 years after the end of the war, the bodies of missing Serbs are still being searched for.

"Nothing surprises us in this impossible BiH. All institutions operating at the BiH level favor and search only for the missing from the other side, while Serb victims are not recognized, and no one is searching for the missing," Rajilić told reporters in Petrovo, where she attended the commemoration of the Day of the Fallen and Missing in the Defense-Patriotic War. She pointed out that the cause of this situation is the poor performance of the institutions at the BiH level and stressed that the process of locating the missing must be returned to the jurisdiction of Republika Srpska’s institutions. "This country is impossible, and one cannot live like this. It is a tragedy for the families who have been waiting for thirty or more years and have not had the chance to bury their loved ones. The question is whether anyone will still be around in five or six years to receive the remains, if they are ever found," Rajilić said. At the Monastery of St. Nicholas on Mount Ozren, the Day of the Missing and Fallen in the Defense-Patriotic War was commemorated today. It was emphasized that the process of locating the missing must be returned to the jurisdiction of Republika Srpska’s institutions, and that it is paradoxical that in 17 years of the BiH Missing Persons Institute’s existence, not a single missing Serb has been found. Republika Srpska is still searching for 1,616 persons, of whom 981 are civilians and 10 are children. During this year, only three Serbs have been identified - two civilians and one soldier, the Republika Srpska Ministry of Labor, War Veterans and Disabled Persons' Protection reported. To date, the database of the Republic Center for the Research of War, War Crimes, and the Search for Missing Persons has recorded 5,773 missing persons. The commemoration of the Day of the Missing, as an event of Republika Srpska significance, is organized by the Republika Srpska Government Committee for Nurturing the Tradition of Liberation Wars. Since 2021, the Day of the Missing and Fallen in the Defense-Patriotic War has been observed in Republika Srpska on August 30, which is also the International Day of the Missing, established in memory of the victims of wars, crimes against humanity, and human rights violations.
