IGOR DODIK: VIOLENCE CANNOT AND MUST NOT BE REWARDED

BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 4 /SRNA/ – SNSD Organizational Secretary Igor Dodik condemned the shameful decision of the Banja Luka Court of General Jurisdiction, as a result of which Radoslav Jović today walks freely through Banja Luka, although only a few days ago, together with his son, he beat a police inspector in front of a minor child.
“It cannot be just for a violent offender to be released. I hope the court will reconsider this decision once again after the prosecutor’s appeal and send a clear message that violence cannot and must not be rewarded,” Dodik emphasized in a statement to SRNA. He pointed out that members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs /MOI/ of Republika Srpska, who diligently carry out their duties every day and are the guarantors of our security, must be accorded special respect as public officials. “I express full support to the colleagues of the attacked inspector, who protested to warn that we will be left without safe streets if we allow such attacks to go unpunished. To the inspector who bravely reacted and was therefore brutally attacked, I wish a speedy recovery, and to all of us – especially those responsible in the institutions – I wish careful reflection after such an event on how a responsible state in the service of its citizens should react,” stated SNSD Organizational Secretary Igor Dodik in his statement to SRNA. The Court of General Jurisdiction in Banja Luka ordered one month of detention for Mihajlo Jović /21/, suspected of physically attacking police officers, while his father, Radoslav Jović /48/, was released to defend himself at liberty under restrictive measures. Both are suspected of committing the criminal offenses of preventing an official in the performance of official duties and endangering safety. Members of the Banja Luka Police Department gathered two days ago in front of the Court of General Jurisdiction building in Banja Luka to show support for their colleagues who were beaten on Saturday, August 30, while trying to prevent the commission of a criminal offense, during which the Jovićs physically assaulted them and inflicted serious bodily injuries.
