SUSPECTED MASS GRAVES OF SERBS IN BROD, BUT BiH INSTITUTE TAKES NO ACTION
BANJA LUKA, SEPTEMBER 15 /SRNA/ – Marko Grabovac, the head of the Organisation searching fallen soldiers and missing civilians from Brod, stated that 36 Serbs from the area are still on a search list; it is suspected that both individual and mass graves containing the remains of Serbs are located at several sites, but investigators from the BiH Institute for Missing Persons are not conducting fieldwork.
He recalled that a mass grave had previously been exhumed in Brod containing the bodies of 59 murdered Roma from four buses, including the remains of 23 children. "We requested that investigative digging continue in the Dubočac area because, according to witness statements, human remains from the other three buses are located there. A total of 216 people were killed at that time," Grabovac said. He emphasized that the data regarding the prosecution of war crimes against Serbs at the BiH level is devastating, and called for the process of searching for missing Serbs to be returned to the jurisdiction of Republika Srpska. "Since the establishment of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons in 2008, only 74 individuals from Republika Srpska list of missing persons have been exhumed and identified," Grabovac told SRNA in Banja Luka, where he attended a public forum on the search for the missing titled `Where is he/she? I want to know.` As part of the marking of the Day of the Missing and Fallen in the Defensive-Patriotic War, a memorial service was held today at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Banja Luka, and wreaths were laid at the New Cemetery and the Saint Pantelija Cemetery.
