MEHMEDOVIĆ URGED NOT TO INTERFERE IN CHINA'S INTERNAL AFFAIRS

SARAJEVO, SEPTEMBER 23 /SRNA/ - The Chinese Embassy in BiH has informed the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH that Šemsudin Mehmedović, a member of the House of Representatives, slandered and discredited developments in China's Xinjiang Province, thereby interfering in China's internal affairs, which is inconsistent with the friendly relations between the two countries and runs counter to their shared interests.
The Embassy stated that Mehmedović made these remarks during a conference in Sarajevo on September 4, convened by the Center for Uyghur Studies and the Uyghur Campaign, in order to propagate his anti-China stance on Xinjiang. "Two BiH officials - Šemsudin Mehmedović and Adi Kalem - delivered speeches at this conference slandering and discrediting developments in Xinjiang and China's policies," the Embassy noted, adding that this occurred as the two countries mark 30 years of diplomatic relations. The Chinese side expressed deep concern and strong opposition to such blatant interference in China's internal affairs. According to the Embassy, the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region has experienced social stability, economic growth, ethnic unity, interreligious harmony, cultural development, and improved living standards. "These are fundamental and undeniable facts that are fully recognized, while rumors and lies about Xinjiang are unfounded. They are fabricated and spread by anti-China forces, malicious institutions, and media, and anyone who has ever visited Xinjiang can testify that such reports are entirely false," the Embassy stressed. It was underlined that Xinjiang's affairs are exclusively China's internal matter and tolerate no interference from any foreign country in any form. The Embassy further emphasized that the statements and actions of the two BiH officials contradict the basic norms of international relations, especially in a year marking three decades of diplomatic ties between China and BiH, which have been marked by numerous friendly activities. "In this context, the reprehensible anti-China actions are incompatible with the friendly relations between our two countries and run contrary to our common interests," the Chinese Embassy stated. The Embassy expressed hope that the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH will fully recognize the importance and sensitivity of the Xinjiang issue, uphold the One China principle, and effectively restrain the actions of the relevant parliamentarians, preventing them from interfering in China's internal affairs.
