NOVI GRAD, MARCH 5 /SRNA/ – The Novi Grad Kastrum na Uni Association has documented more than 2,000 tombstones dating from the 17th to the 19th century in the territory of this municipality as part of the project "Stories from the Stone".

The association's president Želimir Perić told SRNA that field research has been conducted for about a year. According to him, the goal is to archive all old tombstones. "A year ago we started independently. We applied for the project with the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Labor and Veterans' and Disability Protection. After presenting the results, we received support," he said. Perić noted that this is the first project in BiH focused on the protection, archiving, and mapping of necropolises. He explained that the research will be completed by June this year, after which a publication with the collected data will be released.
