NOSOVIĆ: BAN GATHERING OF HVO MEMBERS IN MODRAN NEAR DERVENTA
BANJA LUKA, MARCH 13 /SRNA/ - Members of the Croatian Army and the HVO committed terrible crimes against Serbs during the past war in the areas of Brod, Derventa, and the entire Posavina region, and for that reason, the gathering of uniformed members of the HVO in the Derventa settlement of Modran should be banned, said the president of the Alliance of Former Camp Detainees Anđelko Nosović.
Nosović assessed that the institutions of Republika Srpska should ban the gathering, which has been announced for March 21. "It is unacceptable that such gatherings are held on the territory of Republika Srpska, in a place where members of the HVO committed crimes against Serbs, because this represents a resurgence of Ustasha ideology," Nosović told SRNA. He pointed out that members of the Croatian Army and the HVO killed entire Serbian families on the spot. "They forced Serb parents to cook meals for the soldiers, and then slaughtered their entire family," Nosović recalled, adding that in this case, the old rule is confirmed - the criminal returns to the scene of the crime. He also noted that in the area of Derventa alone, more than 300 Serb detainees were held in five camps, while throughout Posavina, more than 6,000 Serbs were held in camps during the war and endured the most severe torture and abuse. Nosović also recalled that in Croatia, Serb monuments are being demolished and the Cyrillic script is being driven out from centuries-old Serb homes, while on the territory of Republika Srpska, they want to honor the soldiers who killed the Serb people. The Veterans' Organization of Republika Srpska called on the Ministry of the Interior and other relevant authorities to ban the marking of the 34th anniversary of the formation of the 3rd battalion Modran of the 103rd HVO Brigade, scheduled for March 21 in Modran near Derventa, and to conduct an investigation into its organization, or they will be forced to prevent this gathering themselves.
