PAVIĆ: STATEMENTS BY SOME PROMINENT MEMBERS OF THE STUDENT LIST CONCERNING

BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 2 /SRNA/ – Political analyst Aleksandar Pavić told SRNA that statements and numerous interviews given by some prominent members of the Student List to Sarajevo and Zagreb-based media outlets are concerning, particularly given that some of them have been critical of the Republika Srpska leadership.

"Some of them give off the impression of a return to the old concept of brotherhood and unity. Some are critical of the Republika Srpska leadership, which I consider very alarming and concerning, especially when such statements are made in the Sarajevo media. This either reflects a complete lack of understanding of the situation or is simply an indication of certain negative intents for the future. We will have to wait and see," Pavić said. He assessed that, following the elections in Serbia, efforts were being made to create a revolutionary atmosphere, in which many people were claiming the Student List's victory as their own and seeking to take the law into their own hands. Commenting on the transitional period in Serbia following the Student List's victory, during which institutions were being bypassed, demands for resignations were being made, and political opponents were being targeted, Pavić said that such developments were simply unacceptable. "The problem is that many people want to turn this into a revolution, which is something entirely different. In that case, it is no longer a normal transfer of power, and that is when we see such developments. However, the current government is still formally in power, and it is its responsibility to maintain law and order in the country until a peaceful transfer of power takes place," Pavić stated. He believes that the Student List cannot be held responsible for everything either, as its members can currently do little more than publicly appeal to those attempting to act in their name to refrain from doing so. Pavić noted that presidential elections must be held by the end of the year, meaning that Serbia will enter a new election campaign. "In any case, the campaign itself has created a great deal of hostility among the people, particularly through social media. Bots and artificial intelligence were more active than ever. I experienced this firsthand. An atmosphere resembling a referendum was deliberately created, in which the only thing that mattered was removing the current government. People do not know exactly what they voted for, other than the removal of the current government," Pavić said. Whatever steps are taken next, Pavić said, particularly if certain radical measures are pursued, the question will be what legitimacy they have if they were not announced during the election campaign. However, he pointed out that every new government should be given 100 days from the moment it is constituted and a new government is formed before its performance is assessed and conclusions are drawn about what it has and has not accomplished.
