EVEN DIFFICULT CONDITIONS DO NOT SILENCE THE SERB VOICE OF RADIO DRVAR

DRVAR, NOVEMBER 17 /SRNA/ - The staff of Radio Drvar, the only media in the Federation of BiH /FBiH/ that broadcasts all-day programming in the Serbian language, and is faced with difficult working conditions, called on Republika Srpska and Serbia to help the voice of this media be heard in households in this place and Livno Canton.

It is a team of only two employees, who survive despite very difficult conditions, but emphasize that no time, effort, or energy was spared to make Radio Drvar as good as possible and to bring the topics of life closer to the listeners, presenting them authentically and objectively. Radio told SRNA they have no help from the FBiH, the help from the Livno Canton authorities is minimal or almost imperceptible. The municipality of Drvar is their only support, which fully finance them. "Our equipment is dilapidated and old, no heating. Many things are missing, but we are here every day for our listeners, even though we work in inhumane conditions," said this media outlet. The mayor of the municipality of Drvar Dušica Runić told SRNA that even though they work in extremely difficult conditions, local radio journalists try to bring news about current events to every household, both to their local community and region. According to her, there is a lack of financial resources in order for Radio Drvar to survive, but also to realize certain media-related ideas in Krajina. Runić mentioned that Radio Drvar can advertise and report professionally and objectively to the Serb population, but they would like to open a television centre in Drvar in order to send a message to the world about the many beautiful and interesting stories of this region through pictures and videos. "We have the will, the desire and adequate staff, but we lack the means to implement ideas," emphasized Runić. Radio Drvar broadcasted for the first time at the beginning of June 1974, and as a witness of time and a reliable chronicler of events, was and remains at the service of loyal listeners.
