VUČEVIĆ: FEW PEOPLES HAVE EXPERIENCED TRAGEDIES OF WAR AS THE SERB PEOPLE HAS

BOSANSKI PETROVAC, AUGUST 7 /SRNA/ – There are few peoples who have experienced the tragedies of war as the Serb people has and whose memory will keep vigilance to ensure it does not repeat, said Miloš Vučević, the envoy of the President of Serbia, in Janjila, where Croatian aviation bombed a convoy of Serb refugees on the Petrovac Road in 1995.
"They call Operation Storm a military victory, but it was enacted against civilians and the defenseless. Few peoples have endured such tragedies of war," Vučević stated. He emphasized that the heinous crime occurred under the safety of the sky above civilians fleeing their ancestral homes, underscoring the shame and tarnished nature of such an act. "Those who celebrated such crime have dishonoured warrior tradition," Vučević said. He noted that the biblical scale of this evil may never be fully comprehended. "Evil descended upon our children and pregnant women. An ordinary mind can understand this. But the outcome of that evil is demonic, not mere hatred. No matter how low a person falls, they're not capable of such subhuman hatred. The brutal killing of innocents is the result of a hatred that is not human and it was not satisfied by expulsion and pogrom," Vučević explained. He observed that in certain places, seeking remorse and shame is in vain but that does not stop the call for accountability. "We will remember this as long as we exist and breathe. It is an eternal duty. By remembering, we survive as a nation. From this sorrowful place, we declare clearly that we will remember in order to stay vigilant and to ensure such suffering is never repeated," Vučević emphasized.
