ĐOKIĆ: COMPLETION OF HPP DABAR BY END OF 2027

BILEĆA, SEPTEMBER 26 /SRNA/ – The Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska Petar Đokić expressed hope that the 'Dabar' Hydropower Plant will be completed by the end of 2027 and emphasized that the operation of this most complex hydro-energy facility, into which BAM 664 million has been invested, will bring benefits to the entire eastern Herzegovina.

He noted that this project covers four municipalities within a range of 40 kilometers and stressed that the key facility is a 12-kilometer tunnel, which is almost completed. "This is an exceptional construction undertaking, the first of its kind in the world in the 21st century," Đokić said after meeting with Chinese partners and visiting the works on HPP 'Dabar,' adding that he is proud to have been part of this project since the very beginning of its implementation. Đokić stated that today he met with representatives of the Chinese partner company 'Gezhouba', which is the main contractor for the project, along with their subcontractors, the domestic companies 'Integral' and 'Elnos'. He said that they also discussed certain problems in the work and stressed that difficulties will be overcome along the way, expressing confidence that there will be understanding from those important for the implementation of the project, above all the Chinese side – 'Exim Bank' and 'Sinosure' insurance, which is insuring this project. He also highlighted the importance of 'Elektroprivreda Srpske' and the Trebišnjica Hydropower Plants /HET/, the owner of HPP 'Dabar', that are contributing to the project. Đokić underlined that HPP 'Dabar' is a financially demanding project and that the decision made by the Government of Srpska together with HET and 'Elektroprivreda Srpske' was justified, since the positive effects of this facility for all local communities of eastern Herzegovina will only become apparent in the future. He added that he is convinced that even at this stage of construction, positive effects can already be seen in these local communities. Đokić said that the works are very complex and require the dedicated approach of a qualified team, and that the construction company 'Energoprojekt' from Belgrade is supervising this project.
