TRIBUTES TO KILLED DEAD POLICE OFFICERS PAID IN SKELANI

SREBRENICA, JULY 10 /SRNA/ - Today, Skelani near Srebrenica, paid tribute to 19 killed Serb police officers and laid flowers at the memorial plaque on the police facility.

Tribute to the policemen from Skelani who were killed during the Defensive- Patriotic War in the territory of that wartime municipality was paid on the third day of the program of the Srebrenica memorial cultural, sports and humanitarian event "St. Peter's Days". A commemorative session of the Municipal Assembly was held in Srebrenica, as part of this event, where Serb councilors and Serb members of the municipal leadership paid tribute to all the citizens of this municipality killed in the last war in BiH, while Bosniak councilors boycotted the session for unknown reasons. Also, there are competitions in several sports today, tomorrow there will be an evening of spiritual music and the burning a birch on St. Peter's Day after the evening service in the Srebrenica Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The "St. Peter's Days" programme will last until Friday, July 12, when, after the Divine Liturgy in Srebrenica's Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, visits and laying of flowers will be organized at the cemetery in Bratunac, the execution grounds in Biljača and Sase. After that, a memorial service will be held for 69 killed and 22 captured and killed Serbs on St. Peter's Day in 1992 at the memorial from the last war and the memorial ossuary for those killed in the Second World War at Zalazje near Srebrenica. "St. Peter's Days" is organized in memory of the great suffering of Serbs on St. Peter's Day in 1992 in the villages around Srebrenica and Bratunac. Ten captured on St. Peter's Day in 1992 are still missing, while ten were accidentally found and exhumed in 2011 in Zalazje during the search for Bosnian casualties. Two of the missing were found in other locations. No one was held accountable for the abuses and murders of captured Serbs, as well as those who remained loyal to the then Muslim government at the beginning of the war, but ended up killed in the Srebrenica prison camps.
